Program Description

Disability Resources, Inc. is a local nonprofit organization since 1993 whose mission is to help local individuals with disabilities achieve their highest potential.  Services include Supported Living Arrangements for individuals with developmental disabilities, and job coaching for individuals with any type of disability.  Disability Resources, Inc. is also proud to provide the community with a computer refurbishing program called New2u Computers.

New2u Computers receives donated computers, related hardware and software from the community.  The refurbished computers are sold back to the community at a low cost in its computer store and are provided at no cost to people with disabilities.  To a population that is often physically as well as socially isolated, computers can offer access to information, social interaction, cultural activities, employment opportunities and consumer goods.  Additionally, it brings affordable technology to disadvantaged families who may not be able to afford to buy a brand new system.  New2u Computers also provides high quality, discounted computer repairs and installations.  This program generates income for Disability Resources so that it is less dependent on grants and government funding.

In addition, New2u Computers is a fantastic service that helps reduce e-waste in our landfills.  Any computer electronics that cannot be re-used is shipped off to be fully recycled.
